Approach + Specialties

Kristen's therapeutic ethos is to always treat in a manner as least invasive as possible, always allowing the body to guide the treatment.

She believes in healing through the lens of witnessing Nature and seasons reflected in the systems of the body and in overall patterns of constitutional health.

She treats through an integrative model of recognizing Western biomedicine in the context of an East Asian paradigm of the body, always addressing the unique whole of the person and the root cause of imbalance, and not merely treating symptoms.

She is available for collaboration with any treatment plan a patient may be on with another medical service or provider.

She is also available for "needle-less" appointments for nutritional and lifestyle consultations, learning to use your food as medicine, and prescriptive herbal treatment plans.

What is Acupuncture?

In its most basic form, acupuncture is the insertion of very thin, hair-fine "pins" into specific points of the body that correspond with a mapping of the body's organ systems and "super-hwys" of communication that help to stimulate neurotransmitters in the brain, drawing the body's attention to the area. Some points may be located close to the area of grievance, and some may be far away. While the exact mechanism of acupuncture is still being widely researched in the scientific and quantum physics communities, the practice of acupuncture is over 3000 years old, and is still used in modern hospitals and integratively in Western medicine practices across the globe, and is regulated by the state medical board.

In your first acupuncture visit, we will spend 30-45 minutes discussing your health history, concerns, and asking specific questions related to your case, followed by treatment utilizing a number of therapies depending on your case including but not limited to: acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, moxa, electro-stimulation, teishin, tuning forks, and/or bodywork.
